They are a reputed 40+ year old company that knows sizing and the issues that sometimes happens when big bridal box stores, for instance, say “Oh, we don’t fit her type here”. Or worse yet, they want you to get a woman’s dress and cut it down. Pegeen is an expert at these kinds of shapes and sympathetic to the worry you may have. Pegeen has the perfect program to fit these special shapes and will do the work before production begins.
How to measure – the three steps….
Her Height (Top of Head to Floor)
Using a soft tape measure, we require a standing height, chest and waist. If you do not have one presently, you can buy one easily in a grocery store. When you start the measurement, your girls need to wear only undergarments to reduce any errors. Have her first stand against the wall, place a pencil on her head to make a dot at her exact height. Usually we tell moms or dads to hold the tape measure on the dot and ask the girl to read the measurement on the floor. It’s a good learning lesson and by helping her read the tape measure you are showing her the half and ¼ inch marks to be as exact as you can.
Measuring her chest
When you measure the chest of your daughter you need to pass the tape under her arms and allow it to pass over her bust line. After placement of the tape ask the flower girl to lower her arms. Make sure the tape measure is parallel to the floor.
Measure her waist
When you are measuring the waist of your daughter, you need to place the tape at the largest point of her abdomen which usually is her belly button. If it is not, please let us know she’s a bit rounder but we will be able to see that once photos are sent to us. You need to follow the exact method you did while measuring her chest.
Other measurements and
Most of the flower girl dresses are what we call Ballet Length, 4” off the floor. It allows their toes to be seen when walking but doesn’t touch the floor which, in our opinion, looks better. If you want the dress to the floor (some styles cost an additional amount), place the tape at her belly button and read the measurement on the floor.
How we do the bodice fit in the mail
Should your daughter’s chest be larger than 33”, we will charge you for a Bodice Fit for her to try on. Along with the muslin bodice fit will be directions on how to send photos back to us to ensure the plus size girl has no additional adjustments that they need to make.
